KaiMEMBRANE – RO/UF/NF Membrane

Arvind KaiGO is the pan-India sales & service partner of Hydranautics – USA for their entire range of UF, RO & NF membranes. Through this partnership, Arvind KaiGO provides municipalities and industrial customers with robust membrane-based filtration solutions. These membranes are robust and effective at removing contaminants & dissolved salts.

Based on the different pore sizes and surface charge, water treatment membranes can perform functions of mud-water separation, particle separation, brine separation and ion separation processes. Membrane filtration is a pressure-driven technology with pore sizes ranging from 100 molecular weight to 5 microns.

Membranes offered by Arvind KaiGO are

  • Anti-fouling
  • Resistant to contaminants
  • Highly porous, which allows for consistent and high flux and water permeability
  • Easy to clean
  • Mechanically strong and chemically stable

RO Membrane of ultrafiltration and microfiltration modules based on polymeric hollow fibers. All membranes solutions offered can be used as a replacement of conventional treatment systems combining benefits of high permeate quality and low footprint requirements. Using Hydranautics ultrafiltration products, RO membranes may be used downstream more safely while operating at higher fluxes with longer intervals between cleans.

RO Membrane

Reverse Osmosis (RO) is a pressure-driven separation process. It uses a semipermeable membrane and functions on the principles of cross flow filtration. Reverse osmosis water treatment has the finest level of filtration.

The RO membrane is effective in blocking salts and inorganic molecules and even organic molecules with a molecular weight of more than 100. It is effective in removing contaminants like:

  • Endotoxins/ pyrogens
  • Insecticides/pesticides
  • Herbicides
  • Nitrates
  • Soluble salts
  • Antibiotics
  • Sugars
  • Metal ions

RO membrane performance is affected by several factors such as:

  • The temperature of feed water
  • pH balance of the feed water
  • salt concentration
  • operation parameters
  • concentration polarization

Membranes offered by Arvind KaiGO are a part of the globally-recognized Hydranautics products and these products support high-quality water purification in industrial, municipal, commercial and consumer water treatment systems across India & the globe.

These RO membranes are manufactured using the most advanced manufacturing technology in the industry and produce high-performance Hydranautics RO elements for industries. Compared to other membranes, these modules for reverse osmosis water treatment can remove a high percentage of undesirable dissolved solids and also produce two or three times more high-quality water.

UF Membrane

Compared to traditional filtration technologies that use a screen or filter to remove particles, ultrafiltration (UF) is a pressure-driven water purification process that uses an ultrafine membrane to separate particulate matter from soluble compounds. It is used in reverse osmosis pretreatments, desalination pretreatment, wastewater reclamation, and producing potable water.

Ultrafiltration membranes have pore sizes from 0.02 to 0.05 microns, which contributes to the production of high-quality water. Our Hydranautics ultrafiltration modules incorporate PVDF hollow fiber membranes and are an excellent choice to protect downstream processes such as reverse osmosis. They are effective for removing viruses, bacteria, suspended solids, colloids, and pathogens from water.

When used as a pretreatment for reverse osmosis, UF also helps to reduce the fouling of the reverse osmosis membranes. This helps to reduce chemical cleaning frequency and operate RO at higher flux.

NF Membrane

Nanofiltration is liquid separation technology that uses a membrane as well. It shares many characteristics with reverse osmosis. However, unlike RO which rejects all dissolved solutes, nanofiltration has a high rejection of multivalent ions like calcium and low rejection of monovalent ions like chloride. Organic molecules with molecular weights greater than 200-400 are rejected.

Nanofiltration membranes can effectively reject contaminants like:

  • Dissolved organics
  • Endotoxins/pyrogens
  • Herbicides
  • Antibiotics
  • Nitrates
  • Sugars
  • Latex emulsions
  • Metal ions
  • Insecticides/ pesticides

As nanofiltration membranes offer a greater selectivity of ions as compared to reverse osmosis membranes, they provide flexibility in separation process development that can impact performance greatly. Some applications of our NF membrane technology in industrial/ wastewater treatment are:

  • Removal of natural organic matter in water and wastewater
  • Reduces hardness in water
  • Sulfate removal from seawater

Our Hydranautics membranes are excellent for a variety of applications in terms of salt and organics rejection, flux, and fouling resistance. They are durable, easy to clean and exhibit stable performance over years. NF membranes can be used to purify public drinking water where the high level of sodium rejection is not needed but salts like calcium and magnesium need to be reduced.
